“Help! It’s the Hair Bear Bunch!” is best left for nostalgia fans and animation collectors. While it’s by no means the worst of the Hanna Barbera animated shows, it’s yet another of their derivative titles. If you think you’ve seen “Help! It’s the Hair Bear Bunch!” before then you have. It was called “Yogi Bear.”
From the Warner Bros. Archive Collection comes the two disc sixteen episode collection of the complete “Help! It’s the Hair Bear Bunch!” a show that operates on a strict regimen of slapstick comedy, and antics that were mostly derived from past shows. “Help! It’s the Hair Bear Bunch!” is mainly a “Yogi Bear” take off, except rather than one scheming bear and his partner, we’re given three Zoo bound bears anxiously trying to escape their confines.
In the midst of their constant attempts to flee the Zoo, they have to also outwit the Zookeepers, both of whom are always outwitted by the animals. Daws Butler even voices most of animals including the bears themselves, which doesn’t help the Yogi Bear parallels all too much. “Help! It’s the Hair Bear Bunch!” is mainly confined to the antics in the zoo with the bears occasionally stumbling in to outlandish adventures. Sometimes they end up in space, and other times they’re foiling criminals. “Help! It’s the Hair Bear Bunch!” is strictly for folks who grew up watching the series, and it’s finally available.
