Indie Horror Actress and Horror Fan Ana Xaden Interview [Women in Horror Month 2024]

Indie horror actress and horror fan at heart, Ana Xaden accepts to play our game:

To start, please introduce yourself:
Hi! I’m Ana Xaden.

What is horror to you, what makes a work of art one in the horror genre?
Horror is something that delves into something unnerving. I love all type: ghosts, slashers, imaginative deaths, creatures, etc. I love the feeling of that mystery and tight armed feel from some of them.

What made you want to work in horror?
I have loved horror since childhood. My fave movies as a child were the A Nightmare on Elm Street films. After that, I started branching into watching as much horror as I could handle. I always wanted to be in those films and after age 25 I finally got into acting and my first role ever was in Chainsaw Cheerleaders by Donald Farmer. After that I wanted to do more.

Where do you get your inspiration?
My inspiration comes from tons of movies and tv shows but most of it comes from things I have lived through. If I need to be in a specific mood, I just think of times in my life that I felt like the character is supposed to feel.

What would you like your legacy to be in the genre (or elsewhere)?
I ultimately want to be known in person as kind, smart, and funny but on screen, as evil and psychotic as possible.

What is Women in Horror Month to you and why is it still important this many years later?
I see it as celebrating women who rock in horror. It’s always been guys running this industry and I love that females are rising up in the horror world.

Who are some of the Women in Horror who you look up to and who do you want to bring attention to in your field or others?
There are so many I love watching in the horror world. Some that I learned so much from recently was Angel Bradford, Jessa Flux, and Mel Heflin. They are awesome at their craft and so inspiring. Two I love to watch as well are Katharine Isabelle and Tiffany Shepis. They are inspiring to me.

What are you currently working on that you can tell us about?
Right now I have 4 projects in the works: Darbie’s Scream House, Empire Down, Friday the 13th: Jason in Indianapolis and Dan film, and Halloween the 31st. I’m so excited to be involved in these.

And if you look up the name Ana Xaden I am found everywhere except twitter. I am @anaxaden on instagram, Ana Xaden on Facebook/tiktok/youtube. And you can check my IMDb for projects I’ve been in.
