Actor, Makeup Artist, and Writer Chloe Lutz Interview [Women in Horror Month 2025]

Meet Chloe Lutz, actor, SFX makeup artist, and writer:

To start, please introduce yourself:
Hello, I am Chloe Lutz! I am an Actor who also does sfx makeup and writing of my own. I have starred in Independent films such as The First Harvest by Paul Allen Films, the upcoming Return of The Corn Zombies by Acrostar Films, and Blood on The Bleachers by Cut To The Chase Productions just to name a few! I am continuously inspired by this industry and the people who I have the opportunity to work alongside. I plan to keep growing as not only a performer but an artist in this industry!

What is horror to you, what makes a work of art one in the horror genre?
Horror to me is the art that covers everything we don’t talk about. It covers fears, dark realities, and possibilities that people would usually rather look away from. I think that there is so much possibility in horror and that is what is so beautiful about the genre! To create an art piece out of a horror film there has to be a good group of elements put together. The intense suspense, the imagery, the questions that linger, it all has to be there! People have to stay engaged one way or another, that’s what makes horror so exciting!

What made you want to work in horror?
I’ve always been fascinated by the makeup aspect and all of the effects that go into horror. I always wanted to know how it all worked behind the scenes and what had to happen in order to get some of the shots that looked so realistic! I was always very inspired by the endless possibilities of Horror. It can range from being funny to being the most horrifying thing you’ve ever laid your eyes on! That can even fall all into one film! I love the scare factors, I love the suspense, and I love some of the tropes that live within the genre. I love that there are no barriers on it and that the possibilities are absolutely endless. There is also such a wide range of characters as well which keeps me engaged with the genre. I don’t always have to play the same type of character. The attention to detail that goes into horror movies was also something that always intrigued me. I always wanted to be a part of those suspenseful scenes that revealed something else 30 minutes later on in the film. The incredible directors that I’ve gotten to work with make me want to continue to be in this genre as I move forward! The artistry that goes into it all will never fail to amaze me!

Where do you get your inspiration?
I get my inspiration from the life around me. I’m inspired by my family members every day. I’m inspired by the art I see around the streets and buildings I go into. I’m inspired and encouraged by the strong individuals I have the honor to see on screen and in real life. I’m inspired by the daily conversations I have. I have always loved learning from other perspectives and I am continuously inspired by them. Music, paintings, makeup, fashion, storytelling, I am simply inspired by everything! I find meaning in everything I see on a daily basis. I love being inspired so I always allow myself to be and I don’t think that will ever change! This constant inspiration allows me to grow my characters with depth and knowledge from the world around me.

What would you like your legacy to be in the genre (or elsewhere)?
I would simply love to be a part of inspiration for future horror. I would love to be part of stories that inspire other unique ideas in this genre. I want to be remembered and possibly the reason something else was created. I think that would be an incredible legacy to leave behind in this genre. I hope to give performances that make people want to jump out of their seats and go make something themselves with whatever they have!

What is Women in Horror Month to you and why is it still important this many years later?
I think it’s important to acknowledge the hard working women in this field whether they are on the screen or behind it. I wouldn’t be here if I hadn’t seen the women I have succeed, which encouraged me to do the same. There are little girls out there that should continue to be encouraged by this month of celebration. There are so many incredible thoughts and ideas that women have contributed to horror and the celebration of their successes and contributions is something that we should always have time for.

Who are some of the Women in Horror who you look up to and who do you want to bring attention to in your field or others?
There are so many women I look up to in Horror. The bigger names I really look up to are Sarah Paulson, Lupita Nyong’o, and Bryce Dallas Howard. They all have so much range and the story of their acting timeline is incredibly inspiring. As for those who I have personally worked with and am continuously looking up to in this field: Holly Anspaugh, Angel Bradford, Mel Heflin, Leanne Johnson, and Daisy Hickey. These women have taught me so much and I hope to see them continue to thrive in the work they do! All of their individual journeys are fun to keep up with and I’m grateful to have worked with and learned from all of them! There are so many women and young women who deserve notice in this field. Their talent speaks for itself. Including all of the women I’ve mentioned above, these women are: Mia Katz, Alyssa Dusendang, Ka’ssee Rhe’anne, Delilah “Dee” Hefner, Chanda Rawlings, Amanda Winston, Arianna Harris, Angela Grimm, Caitlin Skinner, Heidi Micak, Beth Metcalf, Ann Myrna, Marlee Carpenter, and Ashley Hefner! That is quite the list, but they all deserve their names to be shouted out for all the hard work they put into this field. They are all incredibly easy to work with and kind individuals who also deliver jaw dropping performances!

What are you currently working on that you can tell us about?
I have quite a few projects lined up to film in 2025! I’m incredibly grateful and excited for each and every one of them. The one that is coming up the quickest is Perfect Soul which I will be filming concept for in the early days of march. Perfect Soul follows my character, Nikki, as she navigates her not so perfect town. It closely follows the story of “Perfect Soul,” the book, written by S.J. Herman. This will be my second time working alongside S.J. after filming “Return of The Corn Zombies” last October! I can’t wait to get back with the Acrostar family. The next film that closely follows Perfect Soul filming is Sister Sullivan. Sister Sullivan is the second movie to The First Harvest by Paul Allen. I am reprising my role as Sophia Biggs and it’s been so fun returning to her! She has so much more to her story and I can’t wait for people to see the next chapter.

Where can readers keep up with you?
You can keep up with my projects and artistic ambitions on my IMDB, Facebook, and Instagram! I use my name Chloe Lutz for all socials, specifically under the username “Chloelutzz”.
