Actress, director, and author Colton Crawford tells us a bit about herself:
To start, please introduce yourself:
Hello, I’m Colton Crawford, a trans actress, director, and author. I am also the current Miss Trans Illinois 2024.
What is horror to you, what makes a work of art one in the horror genre?
Horror to me is when you show real human emotion on screen whether it’s a real-life situation or a situation that no person would want to be in.
What made you want to work in horror?
When I started acting that was the first film I acted in was a horror film and after that I just found it fun to recreate scary moments in life
Where do you get your inspiration?
I love old Hollywood films because they explain the real and it beautifully put together to tell a unique story. Like “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane”
What would you like your legacy to be in the genre (or elsewhere)?
I honestly would love my legacy to be in film and television being a part of the LGBT q plus community as I am a trans woman in the industry.
What is Women in Horror Month to you and why is it still important this many years later?
Women in horror to me is having the same opportunities especially because of back then women didn’t have the same opportunities especially in film today it’s different and I’m extremely grateful and proud of where we are now.
Who are some of the Women in Horror who you look up to and who do you want to bring attention to in your field or others?
Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, I am also a big fan of Helene Udy, Devanny Pinn, to name a few love them all!
What are you currently working on that you can tell us about?
