What is horror to you, what makes a work of art one in the horror genre?
Horror is everything to me. I grew up around it, bonding with family over our love for the genre. What makes a work of art is stunning visuals, cutting edge storytelling and directing.

What made you want to work in horror?
Aliens with Sigourney Weaver. It was a moment in horror and Sci-Fi where the final girl is not only a survivor but strong and intelligent. A hero overcoming otherworldly obstacles. I saw Silence of the Lambs when I was quite young, and I had the foresight to see where strong female leads were headed. The content, the story, the writing was going beyond a stereotypical slasher. Flawed, vulnerable, brave and 3 dimensional characters that we hadn’t seen a lot of before. Here we are decades later with movies such as The Substance.

Where do you get your inspiration?
I draw from life. My greatest fears coming to fruition and using that in my work.

What would you like your legacy to be in the genre (or elsewhere)?
In the genre, I’d like to be remembered for my versatility and consistent vulnerability and honesty as a horror actress. Elsewhere, I’d like to be known as inspiring. Having to overcome many obstacles, barriers, challenges and tragedy, I’ve lived my life fearless with determination.

What is Women in Horror Month to you and why is it still important this many years later?
Trail blazing. Some of the most beautiful and important work onscreen has been done in horror. It’s relative, that although the interest and intensity of the genre is growing, it still deserves the recognition for some of the best characters, writing and atmosphere that exist onscreen. Women being at the center of it.

Who are some of the Women in Horror who you look up to and who do you want to bring attention to in your field or others?
Mia Goth, Maika Monroe, Kate Seigel, Sarah Paulson etc.

What are you currently working on that you can tell us about?
At this time I’m focused on my return to music. But you never know what’s around the corner.

Where can readers keep up with you?
I’m not the biggest fan of social but you can find me on FB and instagram Danners_Lennon
