Character actor Denver Pyle was the live-action host of this primetime television special that included a mix of post-1948 Warner Bros. cartoons with an old West theme.
The classic animation included such classics as “Barbary Coast Bunny,” “14 Carrot Rabbit,” and “Bonanza Bunny.” It seemed that Bugs didn’t make enough Westerns, so the producers shoehorned a pair of Daffy Duck flicks into the mix, the brilliant “Drip-Along Daffy” and the egregious “Aqua Duck.”
The new animation was the typical second-rate stuff that appeared on television at this point in time, but it didn’t damage the production. And Pyle’s grandfatherly narration added nicely to the cowboy-tinged fun.
