30 Years of Fantasia: 2021 Reviews at Cinema-Crazed [Fantasia 2026]

As it is the 30th Anniversary of Fantasia, we (well, I on behalf of the team and site) will reshare reviews we’ve done for the fest including those done during the fest and those done for films that have played at the fest that we reviewed at other times to give an idea of the scope of Fantasia and how important it is for the film industry as a whole.

2021, feels like a lifetime ago, let’s see what we covered at the fest itself and what we covered at other times that also played Fantasia, starting with the films that played at the fest:

From Felix:
The Sadness
Phil Tippet’s Mad God
Yakuza Princess
The Last Thing Mary Saw
Brain Freeze
Baby, Don’t Cry

From Emilie:
Indemnity
Dreams on Fire
Wonderful Paradise
Back to the Wharf
The Last Thing Mary Saw
Glasshouse
Raging Fire

As most know by now, Fantasia is a great place for films to premiere, get picked up for distribution if they don’t already have a distributor in place, and generally to make waves, which leads to these films landing on our proverbial desks throughout the year. Here are some of the others from Fantasia 2021 that we have reviewed through the years between Fantasia 2021 and Fantasia 2026 (some during the fest but from other sources and some before):

From Felix:
10-33
Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes
Frank & Zed
Last Night in Soho
Let the Right One In
Little Vampire
The Spine of Night
The Suicide Squad
Taipei Suicide Story
Wayback

From Emilie:
Agnes
Alien on Stage
Freya
Hellbender
Ida Red
King Car
King Knight
Kratt
Lucid
Prisoners of the Ghostland
The Righteous
Seobok: Project Clone
The Spine of Night
Ultrasound
When I Consume You

As we constantly review new films, classics, and re-releases, this list is only complete as of right this moment (at time of posting) and will likely become incomplete at some point.

Fantasia 2026 runs from July 16th to August 2nd, 2026
