Cage Rage: The Superstar Collection 5 Event Set (DVD)

cagerageWhat are you going to get in the three disc five event set of Rage Cage on DVD? You’ll get over twelve hours of MMA battles that feature some of the most brutal and exciting MMA fights for all you MMAniacs, and while normally I’m not much of a fan of this sport, it was almost impossible to pass up an opportunity to see what the big deal is. How can you not enjoy a sport that’s slowly pushing WWE to the side with the help of the UFC as the most popular sports in America?

Upon receiving this DVD, I frowned and bashed it and was ribbed by my father and brother who practically forced me to watch it, with them, and three or four beers. I obliged them crushing under peer pressure, and after being questioned on my sexuality (even though salivating over two sweaty men rolling around on a mat is homoerotic enough), I realized that it wasn’t so bad after all. It’s hard not to sit through this with a smile, and as someone who’d always insisted MMA was really no big deal, I had a blast sitting down to watch all of the bouts on here and bask with my brethren in the blood pouring and skull bashing that ensued in one hell of a great three disc box set.

I was surprised at how much fun the fights were with each event promising on big battles that are always a great spectacle. One of my favorite fights of the bunch was in “Cage Rage 7” with Daley who finished off his opponent in a mere fifty seconds. From the United Kingdom, fans of the sport will be able to see big events like Cage Rage 7: Battle of Britain, Cage Rage 8: Knights of the Cage, and “No Mercy” just to name a few all of which run at over two hours each with MMA fighters like Anderson “Spider” Silva, and Paul “Semtex” Daley.

There are no extras in the set, but that’s a moot point when you consider the wonderful picture and sound that keeps the grit and grime from the underground circuit with some rather fantastic matches. There are of course the usual interviews, play by play, and commentary all of which bring to mind the classic VHS highlight tapes from the WWF. Any and all MMA fans would be wise to grab this when it goes on sale. This here prude recommends it.
