In Exit 8, a young man is trapped in a surreal landscape: a never-ending subway corridor. He can only get out by following specific rules in the incredibly engaging video game adaptation from director Genki Kawamura. Presented as part of the Overlook Film Festival and in limited release otherwise.

A Māori woman travels to England to find her family, instead finding a job as a governess. The beautiful, affecting, and often horrific Mārama, from director Taratoa Stappard, uses the Victorian Gothic to tell a tale of the horrors of colonialism. Presented as part of the Overlook Film Festival.

An online content monitor stumbles onto a serial killer using the infamous Faces of Death as a basis for his spree. Daniel Goldhaber’s film is a nasty gem, giving the audience exactly what they want in Faces of Death. Faces of Death premieres at the Overlook Film Festival this weekend.
