2014 was a great year for movies, but it was also a year that trotted out some really embarrassing films, many of which were of the comedy or horror variety. We consciously avoided crap like “Transformers: Extinction,” while considering candidates like “Annabelle” and “A Million Ways to Die in the West.” In the end, these made our definitive top ten of the worst 2014 had to offer.
It’s been a fine year for the independent film community, and we’ve come across some great independent films made by a lot of fantastic filmmakers. With the accessibility of technology, the independent film community grows every year, and the slew of indie films coming to theaters and festivals grows remarkably every month. Though there were plenty of fine indie films we saw this year, these are five choice indies of 2014 we really had a great time with.
At a little over an hour long, “Serena” really is a listless twist on “Cinderella.” This time, we meet Cindy, a slave for her stepmother, who beds men every night, while Cindy watches in corners masturbating and trying to get in on the action. There’s not much of an explanation for anything in the movie, as “Serena” seems to excel on being baffling and weird in many instances. Plus, I’m fairly certain most of the cast were high during the filming.

The reason to see “Sweet & Perverse Milly” is for Milly D’Abbraccio. She’s a mind blowingly sexy, and insanely vivacious woman who dominates the eighty minute movie she headlines with her insanely gorgeous body. Normally foreign erotica can tend to drag, but D’Abbraccio just grabs every bit of attention every time she’s on-screen, and knows exactly what she’s working with, and what she’s doing to the audience. One 7 Movies brings the Milly D’Abbraccio spotlight to the fans with a fine restoration of her 1989 movie.

It’s 1970, so there’s a lot of hippiedom and free loving going on with this volume of vintage erotica. One of the first shorts included is “Love In,” where in a group of hippies give in to their hedonism with a bonafide orgy in the fields. But not before having some sausage, breads and drinking some wine.
There’s just nothing better than an obscenely sexy woman with a great sense of humor. Claire Sinclair is that woman who takes charge of her own show for the Erotica Channel and manages to dole up some of her fun humor, while also showing us why she’s so damn sexy. She’s charming, charismatic, and knows how to salvage what could be considered lame concepts. For “Claire on Claire,” Ms. Sinclair literally interviews herself for thirty minutes, donning separate dresses, and staging her show as if she’s interviewing herself.
One thing I love about “Wildfire” is there’s just so much exhaustion and emotional stress, coupled with the heat that you can just feel the characters are on the verge of cracking. It’s bad enough no one has had time to sleep, but now they’ve lost the Atlanta camp after the vicious zombie raid in “Vatos.” You can sense that all real logic and common sense has been depleted in a hail of shock, as the general mind set is summed up through Andrea and her refusal to leave the body of her sister Amy.
