Off Ramp (2024) [Chattanooga Film Festival 2024]

Director Nathan Tape identifies as a Juggalo and has an obvious passion for the community that are identified as the Juggalos. The popular legion of fans that are easily one of the most misunderstood subcultures are given their due in Tape’s absolute bizarre love letter. “Off Ramp” is everything that Tape seems to love all tucked in to ninety minutes. There’s a fun road trip, and our heroes are two passionate juggalos that live their lives by the doctrines of their community but are never militant about re-enforcing their beliefs on others. I’ve also never seen so much Faygo in my life.

Five Great Motorcycle Movies

This week Jeff Nichols releases his highly anticipated motorcycle thriller “The Bikeriders” starring a who’s who of prominent character actors including Tom Hardy, Austin Butler, Norman Reedus, and Michael Shannon, respectively. With any luck we end up with a great film; in honor of Nichols’ latest being centered on the motorcycle community, I thought it’d be fun to list five great Motorcycle movies to get you in the mood for the up and coming release in theaters. ClearMind (2024)

Now Streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Tubi TV.

Aw hell, I’m always complaining about wanting to see something new and Rebecca Eskreis’ “ClearMind” is something new. It’s such a mixing of genres that it eventually comes out of the other end as this unusual amalgam that’s hard to peg down. I dare you to peg this in one hole. It’s a dramatic science fiction situation comedy about grief that follows a woman who uses virtual reality to become a slasher. There are shades of horror, and satire about new age medicine and the quackery of nonsense like Goop et al. It’s so far and away amorphous that it’s tough to hate it.
