Any respective movie lovers looking to save money this Christmas with your classic movie packs on DVD or Blu-Ray and are in the mood for science fiction and action films need look no further than Mill Creek Entertainment’s 4 Movie Collection. This 4 movie pack collects four very entertaining science fiction movies for folks who like action, suspense, and violent menaces and this collection has it all. In 2000’s “Hollow Man,” director Paul Verhoeven brings his own unique vision of the Invisible Man to the forefront. Combining state of the art effects and a cast of great actors, “Hollow Man” star Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Cane, a doctor who volunteers to become a guinea pig for a technology that can turn its subjects invisible.
When he and his team accomplish the formula, Sebastian soon becomes power hungry, corrupting his invisibility using it to victimize and control others while his insanity begins to rot away. What starts as an experiment becomes a fight for survival as his crew tries to stop Sebastian who becomes increasingly violent and murderous, and will not stop until he’s whetted his appetite for blood. With some searing tension and solid performances from folks like Elizabeth Shue and Josh Brolin, Verhoeven’s science fiction treatment is surprisingly entertaining if flawed.
“Hollow Man 2” is the 2006 straight to DVD sequel to “Hollow Man” that stars Christian Slater as Michael Griffin a covert assassin with the ability to go invisible who soon decides to go rogue from the government when the formula that turned him invisible begins to make him increasingly violent and deadly. “Hollow Man 2” is a solid follow-up with some interesting story dynamics that put a twist on the classic man on the run story device. Christian Slater has a good time for a role that require no actual appearance, and it’s a respectable action picture all things considered.
Christopher Lambert stars in 2000’s “Fortress 2: Re-Entry,” as Brennick, a man intent on escaping a high security futuristic prison in an effort to topple an evil organization and save his family. When he breaks free from his last prison, he’s captured again with a band of rebels and blasted in to a prison in outer space. On a mission to escape yet again, Brennick wages a war on the prison and seeks to get back to his son. 1992’s “The Harvest” stars Miguel Ferrer as an ailing screenwriter who awakens in a motel to discover that his organs have been removed. Now he’s on the run as they look to steal his other kidney, and sets out to discover the crime ring that’s stolen his body part, and what surprises they hold for him.
Anyone in the mood for a solid quad feature of science fiction thrillers, this 4 Movie Collection is definitely worthy of your money. If only to see the gorgeous Elizabeth Shue fight for her life.
