Welcome! As is now tradition at Cinema Crazed, we will be celebrating Women in Horror Month all month long in this lovely month of March. As we made the move to from February to March last year, this seems like a good thing to keep going and we will do so as long as we can.

A Few Shorts from 2021 Edition of Final Girls Film Festival Berlin [Final Girls Film Festival Berlin 2021]
The Retreat (2021)
A couple finds their way to the countryside after being invited to a retreat by a couple of friends. As these LGBTQ+ couples leave the safety of the large city, they soon find out that the countryside, this one in particular, is not very friendly to people who do not fit the locals’ ideas of what should be acceptable.
Interview with Horror Author Elaine Pascale [Women in Horror Month 2021]
Please introduce yourself.
I am Elaine Pascale. I have been writing for as long as I can remember. What I write has almost exclusively always been horror. In my “pay my bills life,” I work in academia and the focus is on academic writing, but I do find ways to sneak in some gothic/horror stuff when allowed. I have two grown children and have been happily married for over a hundred years.
Interview with Christina Raia, Filmmaker and Horror Fanatic [Women in Horror Month 2021]
Please introduce yourself.
Hi, thanks for including me in this year’s festivities!
My name’s Christina Raia. I’m a writer and director from Queens, NY. I focus on character-driven and socially conscious horror and comedy, using genre as a lens to represent, discuss and dissect social issues, otherness and real world anxieties. In my work, I tend to subvert expectations, play with genre tropes, and blend seemingly opposing tones.
Andrea Subissati, Horror Journalist and Executive Editor of Rue Morgue Magazine [Women in Horror Month 2021]
Andrea Subissati is one of the premiere women championing all that is horror, horror journalism and amplifying the voices for women in horror at the iconic Rue Morgue Magazine and The Faculty of Horror.
What is it that attracts you the horror genre for your chosen field of creative work?
I don’t consider myself a film critic – my interest is in culture and how entertainment (specifically cinema) interacts with the way we live in the world. I believe horror to be the most interesting and constructive genre for that sort of inquiry because it tackles subject matter that most of pop culture isn’t willing to look at.
Celebrating Women in Horror Month 12!
Women in Horror Month 2021 is upon us! This means that, as opposed to last year (due to momentary insanity of the schedule pre-nothing-to-do-life), this year, I want to celebrate, I want to take the time I did not have last year to really put forth the ladies of horror. I want to cover as many as I can in as many horror discipline as I can. This means that you can expect interviews from all kinds of awesome creative ladies who love to work with fear and/or blood. You’ll also get some articles about films from women in the genre and other fun stuff. I am hoping to get so much in front of your eyeballs that you will be a total fan being of Women in Horror in general.
So to start, let’s go with a bit of an overview of past articles to wet you palate for what’s to come.
