Fuck You, Cupid (2024)

Having its world premiere at the LA International Short Film Festival, director Felipe Marinheiro’s short romance is a cute but interesting short about the ideas of fate, and whether or not destiny exists. There’s always that concept of ignorance being bliss and the protagonist of “Fuck You, Cupid” decides to tempt fate.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024) [4K UHD/Blu-Ray/Digital]

Now Available on Streaming and on Physical Media.

Gil Kenan’s “Frozen Empire” is a movie that, when all was said and done was fine. It was perfectly fine. The problem was that it was yet another of the just fine, perfectly okay movies for 2024, and that doesn’t sit well with me. There are so many places that they can go with “Ghostbusters” and they are still basically stuck in the shadows of the original film. Not only do they refuse to expand on the sceop of the firehouse but they still aim for big city bound showdowns that really don’t hit the mark too well.

Inside Out 2 (2024)

Now Exclusively in Theaters.

2015’s “Inside Out” felt like such a genuine and sincere attempt to figure out not just emotions but the importance that both negative and positive emotions can have. It simplified itself through normal subconscious cues like colors and characters, but through it all “Inside Out” was touching and a complex look at dealing with our feelings and learning to accept them. “Inside Out 2” is a perfectly okay follow up that has a lot to live up to. Its predecessor set the bar high and the sequel never quite hits that bar. “Inside Out 2” is stuck in the middle of trying to figure out what it’s trying to say and hitting that bottom line of introducing new characters for the sake of merchandise sales.

After “IF” Watch these Five TV Shows & Movies

With the imaginary friend kids comedy currently hitting theaters and landing the box-office top spot, I thought what a better way to celebrate “IF” than watching these five TV Shows & Movies that deal in imaginary friends and monsters? I quite enjoyed “IF” (Best use of a Tina Turner song in years!) when all was said and done. It had flaws, but none that hindered the entertainment value.

These five titles should help if you have a bigger appetite for stories about imaginary friends and magical worlds featuring monsters.
