This is one of the first issues–in fact it’s the only issue–that has kind of disappointed me since I started reading. I mean I wasn’t too crazy on the issue telling the story of the Governor, but I learned to enjoy it. With issue 52 of “The Walking Dead” I was kind of disappointed. With Rick now hopefully on the way to recovery from his stomach wound, he and Carl are now alone and he’s teaching the lad how to drive. We open the issue with a humorous, terrifying, and touching moment between the two where Carl learns how to drive crashing in to three of the walking dead and in comes Michonne to the rescue.

The Walking Dead #50
It’s here! It’s finally here! The seminal 50th issue of my favorite comic book series out now is here and wow, does it ever make good on its promise and hype! If the allusions to the first issue with Carl on the cover isn’t enough, we’re also given a wonderful variant that features all of the gang fighting the Gov and his crew… as superheroes! They’re bulky, they’re muscle bound and they have powers! Rick has a super fist, Michonne has a light saber, and Tyreese punches the head off of roamers with ease and giant fists.
Zombies Strippers! (2008)

Jay Lee tries his damndest to take porn star retiree (how long will that last?) Jenna Jameson and posits her as the next B movie scream queen a la Linnea Quigley or Debbie Rochon and I have to set it straight that Jameson will not be the next anything in horror. Any and all attempts to gain some sense of pop culture standing, beyond being a famous porn star have been fruitless and quixotic (her comic proved that). However, as a person who was excited about and interested in seeing “Zombie Strippers!” Jameson isn’t that bad here and that’s because Lee doesn’t ask much from her beyond name recognition.
The Walking Dead #49
For the last time, that’s not zombie Rick Carl is leading on the cover of “The Walking Dead #49.” If Rick was a zombie, he’d be chasing after Carl and trying to eat him, who cares how close he was to him as a human? Either way, Kirkman manages to stir up controversy and heavy debating yet again with this issue, but damn if it isn’t a good one. Kirkman has a lot of questions to answer, and I have a feeling he’s going to in 50, but for all the inherent excellence this issue has, it’s pretty much just filler.
The Walking Dead: Special Edition #1
Do you know that “The Walking Dead” was originally supposed to be titled “Night of the Living Dead”?
Kirkman was so desperate for interest in his idea, that he named the series after the Romero movie. And since Romero’s masterpiece is in the public domain, he could have done such a thing without suffering legal scorn, but he’d have sported plenty of fan scorn. But Kirkman admits it and seems pretty apologetic about it when he discusses the origins of the fantastic horror series from Image Comics. We can relate, can’t we? It’s tough being in any artistic medium, and some of us will do anything to become a success.
The Walking Dead #48
People die. A lot of people. People we’ve grown to love, admire, and were just starting to know.
As always with Kirkman, things I expected were dead wrong, and things I didn’t expect occurred. The irony of course is that Woodsbury does indeed seize the prison, but with the first and second fences down. They’re now officially trapped inside, without an escape plan, and little food. With the outside taken over by the zombies, there’s no room for gardens or fresh air, and Kirkman leaves little options for the people led by the madman of the town.
Xombie #3 (of 6)
Yes children, you too can be like James Farr if you try hard enough. Farr, who is currently hitting it bigger and bigger with his creation Xombie, is inspiration to all the fan boys out there who want their own cult figure beloved by horror fans, and all it takes is hard work, a creative idea, and talent. The comic book mini series “Xombie # 3” is the result of Farr’s creation, now a simultaneous success as an online cartoon, and a mini series for currently hip comic publisher Devil’s Due Publishing.
