Weird, I always assumed Lana Lang took Clark Kent’s virginity, but that’s a mere nitpick for “Little Man of Steel.” Director Larry Zeigelman explores the more private side of the greatest superhero in DC. Set during a random night in Metropolis, Clark and Lois enter a local pharmacy after a seemingly hot date and Lois is very anxious to seal the deal with Clark. Clark is very hesitant though, and looks for many ways to stall the inevitable. He even zaps away repeatedly to stop a world crisis as Lois waits by the condom aisle.
Lois is not sure what Clark is intent on stalling their sexual adventures, but there are many issues brought up that make the scenario with Clark and Lois hilarious. Is Clark really a virgin? Is Superman asexual? Homosexual? Is he just lacking confidence in the sexual area? Or is he less focused on Lois and more on Lana Lang? In either case, “Little Man of Steel” could easily have been a really bad, and yet thanks to the top notch writing and brilliant performances, it’s a fan film that any Superman fan can enjoy. Any Superman fan with a sense of humor, anyway.
Kyle Bares really pulls off the character of Clark Kent, even though we never actually see him in the Superman costume. His mannerisms, followed by his geeky reluctance is entertaining, and he really seems to have a difficult time keeping up with Lois. Kimberly Leemans is insanely gorgeous and charming as Lois Lane, the eager new girlfriend who wants to see what Clark is capable of in bed. Not only is having sex with him a feat in and of itself, but she’s also trying to figure out if Clark refuses to sleep with her because of her.
Much of the back and forth between the pair of stars is hilarious as Bares and Leemans really garner a fantastic chemistry that is necessary for a film revolving around Clark Kent and Lois Lane. They’re a rapid fire bickering couple trying to topple their own differences, thus their sex is destined to be epic. “Little Man of Steel” ends on a very funny note, and one that adds a little substance to the Superman universe, while also embracing the entire scenario of a superhero’s sex life with a sly tongue in cheek. This is a great adult take on the man of steel behind closed doors and I hope to see more from the cast and director Zeigelman in the future.
