Director Ryan Graff’s horror short is about as microscopic a short you can get at only two minutes in length. That doesn’t lessen the impact it has on the viewer, though. Graff touches down on our core fears of being alone and perhaps noticing something out on the corner of our eye that simply doesn’t belong there.
Nika Khitrova stars in the dialogue free short film; Playing a girl who is brushing her teeth before bed, she thinks she sees something lurking behind her shower curtain. And against her better judgment she decides to inspect it. “Unveiled” is very short and is primarily intent on simply giving us a small but satisfying jolt, but I liked it a lot. Not only does Ryan Graff set up the scenario brilliantly, but the pay off is wonderful.
Graff touches on the classic trappings of this scenario with a dark bathroom, a person all alone in their house, and of course that itching feeling that someone or something is hiding in our shower. Even though we convince ourselves there’s nothing there, we still have to look, and we snap in to fight mode. Director Graff does a bang up job delivering a spooky tale in such a small window, and it’s a very good treat for the season.
Premiering on the BronxNet Channel in New York and on their BronxNet streaming website worldwide during their Halloween programming block which begins at 9:30 pm ET. It will be repeated at midnight the morning of Wednesday, November 1st. The film will also be available online on Ryan Graff’s own Vimeo Channel on November 1st.
