Cinema Crazed’s Emilie Black on the “Without Your Head” Podcast!

Continuing our celebration of Women in Horror for March, our own reviewer, interviewer, and photographer extraordinaire Emilie Black took some time out and guest starred on the popular, long running “Without Your Head” Podcast to discuss her excellent contributions to the month’s festivities! In the nearly ninety minute long episode, she also goes over other topics like film festivals, the pandemic, horror movies, conventions and so much more!

Celebrating Women in Horror Month 12!

Women in Horror Month 2021 is upon us! This means that, as opposed to last year (due to momentary insanity of the schedule pre-nothing-to-do-life), this year, I want to celebrate, I want to take the time I did not have last year to really put forth the ladies of horror. I want to cover as many as I can in as many horror discipline as I can. This means that you can expect interviews from all kinds of awesome creative ladies who love to work with fear and/or blood. You’ll also get some articles about films from women in the genre and other fun stuff. I am hoping to get so much in front of your eyeballs that you will be a total fan being of Women in Horror in general.

So to start, let’s go with a bit of an overview of past articles to wet you palate for what’s to come.

In Memoriam: Tomas Navarro

A werewolf passed away on a full moon

This may seem like an odd way to start, but he would have liked it. This is not going to be your usual, almost cold in memoriam piece… I was hoping to have my first piece on this filmmaker and friend be about his work, not about this.

Tomas Navarro passed away during the night of August 2nd to August 3rd, 2020 at his home in San Diego, California. He was a filmmaker, playwright, director, writer, actor, occasional model, he wrote for Cinema Crazed a few times, and amazing human being. Born and raised in San Diego, he was proud of where he was from and working toward making a name for himself in the horror film industry with his production team at SavageZack. They have produced a few short films and music videos and he was working on reshooting his first short film as a director to make it the best film it could be. His last acting part will be released soon in the film Continuance by Tony Olmos, whom he had worked with previously on the film South of 8.

State of the Cinema Crazed 2020

I once got in to an argument with a guy who explained that art is pointless and wholly inessential, especially in a modern society. This was a guy who played video games, by the way. For past eight months I think it’s become apparent to just about everyone that we need art now more than ever. Most of us are troubled with the ideas of what tomorrow is going to bring us, and one of the few remaining doorways in to escaping the reality and weight of our current situation has been art. I think since January we’ve all realized how much we sorely need art, and how much we take it for granted.
