42nd Street Forever – The Peep Show Collection Vol. 1 (DVD)

The previous library of 42nd Street Forever” collections were DVDs and Blu-Rays that focused on compiling some of the more interesting and famous grindhouse movie trailers, where as “The Peep Show Collection” is an entirely different animal. Rather than collect porn trailers, this is instead a compilation of short porn and stag films from the seventies. These were often seen in peep shows and most likely dime booths that allowed limited viewing time for customers, and the like. All of the shorts here are comprised of 8mm video shoots with no sound, but are perfect for collectors of this kind of entertainment.

Profoundly Erotic: Sexy Movies that Changed History [Paperback]

pebook

It’s the last book from Joe Bob Briggs, and for his final outing in the publishing world, he follows up “Profoundly Disturbing” with the equally excellent “Profoundly Erotic.” The final book reviews a series of erotic movies, all of which aren’t exactly pornographic or erotica per se. They’re instead very adult films that deal with sexual politics and the undertones of sexual repression. As usual Joe Bob Briggs is as insightful and informative as ever, and it was ultimately a breezy read to finish.

Massacre Mafia Style (1974) [Blu-Ray/DVD Combo]

One thing you can say about “Massacre Mafia Style,” Duke Mitchell’s shameless attempt to cash in on “The Godfather,” is that it’s never boring. Even when it’s brutally silly it really is also a compelling bit of exploitation that tries desperately to out Godfather “The Godfather.” It does so to the point where the film’s anti-hero bawls about the end of the Italian crime organization and hints at “The Godfather” as a goofy portrayal of the Italian crime legacy in tears. It’s a valiant attempt to set itself apart, but it surely won’t be confused for the aforementioned crime drama any time soon.

Nymphomaniac Vol. I & II (2014)

nymphomaniac

One thing Lars Von Trier makes it apparent from the outset is that the sex in his epic tale of a nymphomaniac named Joe is never erotic. It’s ugly, uncomfortable, weird, funny, disgusting, and surreal. But never erotic. He begins the tale of her discovering her sexuality as a toddler, and then explores her pre-pubescent obsession with her “sensations” between her legs and the tricky methods she implemented to experience them, and then recalls the awkward encounter where she lost her virginity to a local boy that garnered immense pain and unusual emotions.

Taboo Tales – 12 Movie Collection (DVD)

81nrJ1qYYDL._SL1500_

With the advent of indie film making and easy accessibility of technology, I’m surprised there isn’t a surge of exploitation films warning of the dangers of abortion and teen pregnancy. Back in the thirties and forties where America was paralyzed by the fear of youth culture destroying society with weed and abortion, exploitation PSA’s were all the rage. Mill Creek Entertainment offers up twelve of the best of the worst shock exploitation films about teens led astray by crime and drugs from their devotion to common American practices of the time like Christianity, Education, and making sure the black people didn’t use the same toilets white folks did.

It’s nazisploitation this time around, as one of the two new Grindhouse Collections from Full Moon now sets its sights on the infamous sub-sub-genre of Nazisploitaiton and its wicked devices.
