The review of “The Big Lebowski” porn parody was a long time coming… no, I must keep going. Anyway, this review is long overdue for the simple fact that upon watching the PG-13 trailer for the porn parody of one of the greatest films of all time, I found myself mighty giddy at the prospect of a porn parody of the Coen Brothers film. Sure half of the time porn parodies are just lame excuses to grab money from consumers, but on other times, we get “The Big Lebowski a XXX Parody” a hilarious and inventive porn spoof that is 65 percent parody of the original films, and 35 percent hardcore porno. And I guarantee if you’ve seen the original films a thousand times over like I have, you’ll get a kick out of the subtle and not so subtle changes to the original film for porno consumers.

The Price of Pleasure: Pornography, Sexuality & Relationships (2008) (DVD)
“The Price of Pleasure” essentially has its intent kept under its belt from minute one. It’s an attempt to completely demonize and stigmatize pornography and the porn industry by only exploring the more exploitative aspects and demonstrating the ill effects of such a craze in America where money is made off of sex. The imagery is striking and disturbing, the editing is tricky, and the movie essentially seeks to turn the porn star in to something of a low life, never really remarking on how most of the pornography stars are voluntarily exploiting themselves and making a living out of something they don’t normally perform in life. Every business is exploitative, every business suffers casualties, and garners individuals who have been affected by it for better or for worse.
Vintage Lesbian Erotica (Uncensored Version) (DVD)
The first bit of Erotica I ever reviewed for Cult Epics was “American Nudes,” a three disc compilation of erotica shorts that started in the mid-twenties and the silent era and ended in the late nineties where the production qualities were much better but the sex much more artificial. Never remiss to explore all facets of erotica in its truest forms, Cult Epics has compiled a two hour array of vintage lesbian erotica from the 1930’s to the 1960’s that’s both fascinating in its delving of photography and the lengths of innocence and horseplay among its female cast, and rather arousing if you’re in to the girl on girl fetish.
Spiderbabe (2003)
Misty Mundae aka Erin DeWright aka Erin Brown is an underrated performer. I’m a little hesitant to call her an actress, but she is a competent performer worthy of some acclaim if she ever manages to break free from the softcore porn/exploitation genre and approach an actual acting career. If you saw her in the “Masters of Horror” episode “Sick Girl,” she capable of vulnerable sympathetic solid acting. But that’s not to say I don’t love her in what she does. I’ve seen “Playmate of the Apes” where she’s in full on comedy mode leading the charge with a bunch of fake apes going to war, and I enjoyed her in “Lord of the G-Strings” where she engaged in mild girl on girl and petting with some brutally hot fantasy nymphs, so “Spiderbabe” was naturally a treat for me as Mundae explores her comedic talent and her ability to be both grating and charming at the same time.
Batbabe: The Dark Nightie (2009)
Probably one of the funniest pornos I’ve ever seen, “Batbabe” is that extra shot of ridiculous in a world of pornography is already high in the scent. This is a world where titles like “Night of the Giving Head” is a hit. “Batbabe” is a hilarious take on “The Dark Knight” effectively titled “Batbabe: The Dark Nightie” a movie starring the gorgeous Darian Caine as the title character who is forced to battle the evil Jerker, a man determined to steal all the porn in Bacchum and spread his evil spunk on the people of Bacchum.
The Devil Inside Her (1977)
See, here is what I hate in porn: Artsy fartsy. Whenever a porno director convinces himself that he’s going to make something other than another stag movie and tries his hand at arthouse, it’s really annoying. Case in point: “The Devil Inside Her,” a mixture of Andy Warhol, Merchant-Ivory, and “The Crucible,” Zebedy Colt attempts an actual story in an hour, and fails with laughable results. To call this a pure monstrosity is an under statement, as every bit of direction and dialogue is painful, while even the hardcore porn is reduced to satire that fails to be even the slightest bit arousing.
Hot Summer in the City (1976)
One of the more humorous aspects of “Hot Summer in the City” is the presumption that it’s an actual movie because its book ended by “Summer in the City” by Lovin’ Spoonful. Not only does the song have nothing to do with the actual movie, but director Gail Palmer seems to just have bought the rights to play it at the beginning and end of her movie to add some sense of credibility trying to eagerly convince us that there’s a serious plot here, instead of just a hint of a narrative in between all of the rough sex and rape. In all honesty, it’s just a hardcore porno with dashes of story here and there and some wildly cartoonish Caucasian protagonists and African American villains. And there’s a lot of rape, too. Poor white chick gets raped by black dudes. That’s the plot.
