X-Men1This year marks the 50th anniversaries of the X-Men and The Avengers. So to commemorate my love for the X-Men, I thought it’d be fun to count down my top ten X-Men of all time. I really don’t care who is dead currently, or who are evil, or who is on a new team. This is my top ten X-Men and the characters that keep me coming back to this intelligent and wonderful franchise throughout the late eighties and the nineties.

The Top Ten Sexiest Actresses Over 35: Part Two

The canvas of Hollywood is always changing. In a little over a year, many actresses come and go, some of them prove to be mainstays, while other disappear from the public consciousness. We still have a great appreciation for the older women, and the ten gorgeous women we’ve chosen for the sequel to our 2005 list have proven to be talented, class acts, and down right sexy from head toe. These are ten more talented actresses over 35 working in Hollywood that are incredibly sexy, and absolutely beautiful.

Five Reasons Hollywood Should Never Listen to Fans

I’m not saying Hollywood always knows what the hell they’re doing. But most of time their liberties can do good things for some franchises and properties. The “Lord of the Rings” movies are generally accepted in spite of the fact that they cut out whole characters, and invented sub-plots. And despite the authors hating them dearly, “Willy Wonka” and “Mary Poppins” ended up becoming iconic cinematic masterpieces. But then again we’ve also had “Daredevil,” “Batman & Robin,” “Green Lantern,” and “Elektra,” so you have to take the good with the bad.

Adaptations should be made with an appeal to the fan base and a broader audience, and though Hollywood needs to be called on their bullshit more times than not, listening to the fans for ideas is also a bad idea. It’s the worst idea possible. Fan boys should be given their fix, but never allowed behind the curtain to decide on the recipe. If so, we’ll have thirty fan boys going to war on including the Extended Universe in the new “Star Wars” movies, and arguing about who should play Green Lantern next. It’s an endless pool of petty, annoying shit. Placate them, but never give them power.

Our Top 10 Minority Movie Heroes

blade

It’s shocking how tough it was to find cinematic heroes that are minorities. If I wanted to make a list about minority gang members, or thugs in movies, I’d have a list a mile long, but heroes? It’s tough. In the end I tried to compile a list of ten great minority heroes of the movies that wasn’t too obvious, but it’s slim pickings out there.

In either case, if we missed anyone, let us know in the comments!

Our 5 Most Hated Superhero Costume Changes

Electro-SupermanIn the late eighties, all of the nineties, and some of the early aughts, comic books were our number one hobby. We collected literally every comic that drew our interest. Over the years, especially in the nineties, many of the major comic book companies attempted to draw in new readers by changing the costumes of some of their major superheroes and super villains. If that wasn’t bad enough, for a very long time, many of the live action efforts for superhero movies often got the superhero costumes so painfully wrong, that it was almost tough to admit to anyone that you were a fan of comic books. Over the years, superheroes have undergone a lot of major changes to their costumes in many platforms, and these are five of the worst that we just can’t get over.

Our Top 5 Favorite Power Rangers Series

Power-Rangers-1024x663This year, Power Rangers celebrates its twentieth anniversary. The legions of fans that have been watching since 1993 are reveling in the success of the Saban fueled series that has gone on for many years. Hell, even Shout! Factory is releasing a deluxe 98 disc set featuring the first twenty seasons.

I was fortunate enough to enjoy the craze of Ninja Turtles and watch as Power Rangers was also ushered in to take our attention, and for many years I watched Power Rangers religiously. I still am very fond of the series, and watch whatever iteration is on. It’s always been a fun and exciting bit of fantasy fare for kids and teens, and I may just tune in for the upcoming twentieth season.
