Returning from Lake Fear, skipping the unrelated Lake Fear 2, Remington is back and out of the evil cabin and is dealing with evil once again. This time, a duo of girls looking for one’s sister hires a famous paranormal investigator and they all stumble into Remington’s world of evil.

An American Werewolf in London (1981): Special Limited Edition [Blu-Ray]
John Landis’ werewolf thriller is a hard film to pigeon hole. It’s not exactly a horror movie, not exactly a comedy, and not entirely a drama. It is in fact a unique beast and amalgam of various genres that’s managed to remain absolutely timeless since its initial release. The fact that Landis breaks so many of the tropes of the werewolf film while also embracing the classic mythos of the monster is what makes “An American Werewolf in London” such a masterpiece.
Eegah! (1962): Special Edition [Blu-Ray]
“Eegah!” is one of those special kinds of god awful genre films that was engineered specifically to make a rock star in to a bonafide movie star. It didn’t work too well for Arch Hall Jr. whose entire presence in Arch Hall Sr.’s sci-fi thriller revolves around singing, and mugging for the camera. His dad tries to work around Junior’s inherent lack of acting ability and it just—doesn’t work. At all. You can see the cracks come through as the film progresses, and even at ninety minutes, it’s a test of endurance.

If you are on the lookout for something very different and highly invigorating, then check out this five-part horror web series created by the Upstate New York-based actor-writer-filmmaker-singer-composer Frank Palangi. This gem has been flying under the radar on YouTube and it needs to be front and center in everyone’s view.

When “White Zombie” opened in New York in 1932, the critics were scathing in their denunciations. Words like “ridiculous,” “ludicrous,” “failure” and “Worst Movie of 1932” peppered the reviews. And while the critical slams did not scare away audiences, it nonetheless saddled the film with a negative reputation that required decades of repeated screenings and new generations of film scholars to mitigate the initial wave of abuse.

Spirited Away (2001): Collector’s Edition [Blu-Ray/CD/Book]
With their partnership with GKids, Shout Factory has managed to obtain a remarkable chunk of Studio Ghibli’s library and have given choice titles some truly deluxe treatment. Among some of Hayao Miyazaki’s masterpieces is the incredible “Spirited Away” a film that owes a lot to “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Wizard of Oz,” that also evokes subtle social commentary on child trafficking. In either case, “Spirited Away” is still a remarkable and stellar piece of art, with some of Miyazaki’s most memorable creations including No Face, and the Soot Sprites.
Shorts Round Up of the Week: Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween one and all! It’s the final hours of Halloween 2019 and it’s been quite the month. I felt I’d be remiss if I didn’t include another Shorts Round Up of the Week featuring some great horror shorts you can dig your teeth in to before Day of the Dead on November 1st. Included is a tale of a spooky cookie jar, a series of loft crimes that goes bat shit insane, and a serial killer targeting vulnerable young girls.
