A blue collared geek working at a go nowhere job makes a pact with the devil to win the woman he loves; pretty simple premise. In this, Harold Ramis (The Director) makes the devil’s incantation in the form of a beautiful woman (Elizabeth Hurley). The entire movie’s premise is whacky from the beginning. In the movie, the devil offers Brendan Fraser’s character different situations in which to win the girl he has a crush on. But, her being the devil, includes many odd different twists which screw up a typically perfect dream sequence.

Shrek (2001)
In the movie, Mike Meyers plays Shrek, a huge green ogre who keeps to himself and lives alone in his swamp home constantly trying to be killed by angry villagers with pickforks, whom he often easily exterminates of. When the evil lord Farquaard played by John Lithgow (Third Rock from the Sun) forces fairy tale creatures off the royal lands, they take shelter in, of all places, Shrek’s swamp. Shrek, so urgent to get the creatures off his home, meets a talking donkey named… Donkey played by Eddie Murphy, and they must go to the palace to make a deal with the lord. But the lord makes a deal with Shrek, instead. He must rescue a beautiful princess named Fiona played by Cameron Diaz. Hearts in Atlantis (2001)
“Hearts in Atlantis” is an unique tale about a young boy named Bobby and his single mother who live by themselves. Bobby lost his father when he was a young boy and desperately seeks companionship. In moves Ted Brautigan played by Anthony Hopkins. He’s a mysterious man who opens Bobby’s eyes to friendship, the hardships of life, and love. This is a somewhat somber movie that shows it has a lot of heart. David Morse, the great character actor, is the narrator and provides the role of the adult Bobby.
Save the Last Dance (2001)
The movie starts off instantly with The main character Sara on a train heading to Chicago. The director plays it smart by telling us her story through flashbacks. It seems she is a very talented ballet dancer who has a fight with her mother because she can’t make it to Sara’s big audition. The daughter screws up the audition, and while rushing to see Sara, her mother gets killed in a car wreck. We now see Sara who moves to the rough neighborhoods of Chicago with her father Roy. She enrolls in a new school as an outcast and makes friends with the popular girl in school and eventually befriends and falls in love with her brother while learning some new dance moves on the way.

Summer Catch (2001)
In the movie, we meet Ryan Dunne, a young baseball hopeful who, along with many others, are hoping to be discovered on the Cape Cod baseball league. While doing that, He is courting the local rich girl Tenley Parrish played by Jessica Biel. But her father will stop at nothing to stand in the way of their love. This is a simple dumb summer film, ergo the title, which is a pretty fun movie to watch….. that’s all. Ahoy, we have another stinker from the depths of teenage heartthrob/ terrible actor Freddie Prinze Jr.
Vanilla Sky (2001)
Unfortunately, this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. One can find that hard to believe when you have a power packed cast like Tom Cruise, Kurt Russell, and Cameron Diaz along with director Cameron Crowe at the helm. To tell you what I thought of this movie while watching would be too graphic to display, but this is a painful movie to watch.
