Well if anything Adrianne Palicki is gorgeous. But it’s tough to really root for a super heroine who walks as if she’s desperately trying to maintain her top. Which she really is. Poor Palicki is given such a poor costume that her glittery top looks like it’s going to slide down and show off her skin any moment. Plus, the costume just looks so damn confining and uncomfortable. And then we meet Diana Themyscira who is Wonder Woman on the side fighting crime, capturing villains and refusing to turn them over to authorities because “they’ll lawyer up.”

Justice League: Doom (2012)
It’s the Justice League’s worst nightmare. After years of battling petty thugs like the Royal Flush Gang, someone finally figured out how to systematically bring down each and every member of Earth’s most powerful super team. And worse, they’ve figured out a way to psychologically destroy them so they’re each rendered completely impotent in battle. Vandal Savage is at his megalomania again and he has a master plan that will completely ruin how the world operates leaving him the supreme ruler. But first he must eliminate the Justice League. Through a series of scenarios and calculated confrontations, Savage manages to succeed in immobilizing each member of the justice league allowing him adamant time to complete his plan. But he doesn’t count on the secret weapon: Cyborg.
Super Friends: The Lost Episodes (DVD)
“Super Friends” was always a mixed bag of sheer idiocy and just all out creativity. In the course of one DVD in this new set from Warner, Superman is reduced to a farmer by Mr. Mxy wearing a straw hat and being weakened by green beans, and two episodes later, we see Superman journey in to an alternate timeline that allows him to land on Krypton and be able to warn the Kryptonians of the impending destruction of the planet Krypton, and is able to touch base with his father. How the show goes from goofy to just epic in mere episodes is just fantastic and part of the reason why “Super Friends” continues to be a property for the fan boys of the world who lovingly mock this legacy.
Secret Origin: The Story of DC Comics (2010)
The purpose of “Secret Origins” is two fold. What with DC Comics finally putting their characters on the fast track to big budget films in the box office, this ninety minute documentary is meant to school new audiences that might be interested in learning about characters they’re only vaguely familiar with. If you’ll notice, the only characters spotlighted in this documentary are those that have had movies in theaters or have big budget movies coming to them, thus we get to explore Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Watchmen and The Flash, all the while this is meant as a promotional tool for the magic and wonder that is DC Comics. The documentary is really just a recounting of the creations of classic iconic superheroes from their company and there’s never really an exploration in to the darker side of the company.
Superman/Batman: Apocalypse (2010)
For what it’s worth Lauren Montgomery really does manage to compose some magnificent fight sequences, one of which involve Big Barda and Wonder Woman on Apokalips fighting his female warriors. While the finale is meant to be nothing more than a throwdown between strong women, it’s definitely a nice touch to a lackluster film that is often exciting and memorable to watch, especially with the sleek animation style. Summer Glau is always good, and as Supergirl she provides her trademark meek voice that’s undermined by a strong sense of independence and wonder that keeps her as a strong portrayer of the Supergirl character.
Suck It, Wonder Woman! The Misadventures of a Hollywood Geek [Paperback]

“Author” Olivia Munn’s little bon mot embedded within her new book entitled “Suck It, Wonder Woman!” is not just an attempt to gauge the attention of her fan boy following, but it’s also an inadvertent smug gesture of declaring that she’s pretty much breaking out of her geeky confines and seeking greener pastures. This is a woman whose entire fame is based around eating hot dogs dangling from strings, playing a dumb wonder woman, and engaging in a lesbian kiss. And she’s suddenly dignified and looking beyond being a geek goddess. For those of you still unaware, Olivia Munn is the one time co-host for the cable network G4’s flagship daily show “Attack of the Show,” a one hour live show that tackles everything in the internet and geek world from electronics to comic books and movies.

The All New Wonder Woman #601
Do you remember a time where comic books were just about being comic books?
You went in to a news stand, picked up some comic books, read them and awaited the next issue with your favorite characters fighting their arch nemesis? Well now with the death of the printed word looming, comic books are no longer about entertaining us. They have to serve much more of a purpose and as such most of the comic books you’ll read that are out now are custom made to be movies, are just blueprints to be movies, tailored to fit a movie adaptation, and are being drastically altered to fit the needs of a parent company anxious to turn the star of the comics in to a film heroine.
