It still baffles me that a show about the end of the world doesn’t focus on the obvious suspects this would affect the most. The poor. I mean the impoverished and hungry were always impoverished and hungry. Wouldn’t they perhaps become better survivors, or masters of whole villages? Wouldn’t they rule legions of nomads? No, instead our main characters are a bunch of Caucasians, with the occasional minority. And they were all filthy stinking rich. Well, middle class anyway. The characters who first knew about the black out basically had a luxurious apartment with their toddler playing on Apple technology for fun. Then suddenly everything went black.

Little Red (2012)
The tale of Little Red Riding Hood was always fraught with undertones that would be dissected and re-worked for decades. Director Tate Bunker takes the tale of Little Red Riding Hood and re-works it in to a wonderful and occasionally eerie coming of age road trip dramedy that works on many levels. It’s simple, but often times incredibly clever, realizing the symbolism of the story and integrating that in to the modern setting.
My Top Ten X-Men Characters Of All Time
This year marks the 50th anniversaries of the X-Men and The Avengers. So to commemorate my love for the X-Men, I thought it’d be fun to count down my top ten X-Men of all time. I really don’t care who is dead currently, or who are evil, or who is on a new team. This is my top ten X-Men and the characters that keep me coming back to this intelligent and wonderful franchise throughout the late eighties and the nineties.

Rhea (Zosia Mamet) is the last in a long line of female mystics who have practiced their magical traditions in secret for centuries. She lives a quiet life in the company of her parents Abigail and John (Virginia Madsen, Aidan Quinn) and grandmother Rosemarie (Olympia Dukakis). Abigail and Rosemarie each have their own individual powers, but legend has it that a chosen one will inherit all the powers of the mystics and use them to fight evil. As Rhea becomes aware of her destiny and develops her considerable gifts, she is faced with the biggest decision of her young life.

Not in My Beans (2012)
I was kind of off put by the opening of director Grayson Whitehurst’s experimental thriller entitled “Not in My Beans,” but sticking with it really did pay off well. At only a little near five minutes long, “Not in My Beans” has a unique and very entertaining premise that’s dark, creepy, and surreal.
Heroes of Cosplay
In spite of Syfy’s best efforts, “Heroes of Cosplay” is one of the least melodramatic reality shows I’ve ever seen behind the “Debbie Does Dallas” reality show. Geek culture is huge now, and every network is aiming to market on the fact that the fan boys and pop culture buffs really dominate the scope of fiction and media right now. Syfy has tried time and again with varied results, and so far “Heroes of Cosplay” (a kind of spin off of the cosplaying portion of “Comic Con Episode IV”) is the best, and most entertaining.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
If anything, while “The Last Crusade” is considered the weakest film of the first three films, director Steven Spielberg teams up the world’s most popular James Bond actor, with the newest adventure hero Indiana Jones. Once considered the finale in the adventures of Indiana Jones, “The Last Crusade” takes another step back and examines the Indiana Jones from when he was a young man. Played by the late River Phoenix, director Spielberg chronicles many of the beats that turned Indiana Jones from a young daring man who cherished hallowed treasures, to an actual man who risked life and limb to return hallowed treasures back to their homes.
