Christina's House (2001)

A young girl named Christina (the insanely hot Allison Lange) has just moved into her new home with her father and brother and begins to re-adjust to life while their mother remains in an insane asylum. Suddenly, odd things begin to happen: people get killed near the home, half eaten cookies and freshly made sandwiches are discovered lying around the house, and windows and doors lock by themselves while strange notes are found. Christina soon begins to wonder if the incidents are real, or if she’s losing her mind like her mother.

Cabin Fever (2003)

There’s a lot of potential in the film to be a cult classic at best. The fact that there’s a group of people forced to live with a flesh eating virus that’s increasing their paranoia and make them turn on each other is very interesting. Also, the movie succeeds in grossing out the audience with some excellent and effective special effects. A person in a message board brought about an interesting theory upon the movie: no one ever actually dies from this flesh eating virus. If you think back to the movie, you’ll notice none of the characters inflicted with the disease actually die.

FearDotCom (2002)

The problem with this film is that it’s an evident rip-off or to put it nicely, “homage” to the Japanese cult horror film “The Ring.’ The plot is simple and straight to the point: bad website cursed, bad website kill, people who look at site die, the end. I was very intrigued to watch this, because I am anxiously awaiting “The Ring” and haven’t seen it, yet, so I figured this movie would be the next best thing… boy, was I dead wrong, dead, dead wrong.

Bully (2001)

bullyBased on a true story, we meet Marty Puccio a troubled guy who is being abused by his friend Bobby Kent until one day his girlfriend Lisa decides to group a bunch of friends to kill him. After his brutal murder paranoia ensues within the group. Over the past few years I’ve noticed a startling resemblance among Clark’s films, so I didn’t expect much of a difference from this and “Kids.” The story plays out as we see the naive and brain dead Marty who only surfs and watches Television is bullied by his malicious best friend Bobby. The characters are fascinating because Bobby is at times very abusive at one point hitting Marty across the face in anger, but when they’re alone he sincerely tells him, “You’re my best friend.”

Cube²: Hypercube (2002)

cube2Taking off from the original fan fave, we meet eight people who wake up in a giant cube full of deadly puzzles, obstacles, and rooms that never end. Do they make it out alive? Do they ever make it out? I did not like the first one, so I was curious to see if the second one would be better, and this is basically the same deal. We have a bunch of people, each with unique characters, figuring their way through the constant white rooms and puzzles.

The Ring (2002)

What she begins to discover will be a descent into darkness and evil that will forever change her life. This was based on the original Japanese horror series of movies that took Japan by storm and became a classic. The execs at America took notice and decided to remake it hoping to spawn an equally engrossing hit. What is spawned by it is a truly horrific movie that has the makings of a masterpiece. The one thing that stood out from this movie is the incredible cinematography.

Brotherhood of the Wolf (Le Pacte des loups) (2001)

To say that this is a cool movie would be an understatement. I was very curious to see whether this movie was action or horror, when in fact, it was a hybrid of both. This is the first and possibly only French movie I’ve ever seen, and I have to tell you, if they can make movies like this then: viva la France!
