Our Favorite "Star Wars" Characters of All Time

star-wars-bannerIn honor of the upcoming “Clone Wars,” on August 15th, a movie we’re actually looking forward to we’re ashamed to admit, we’ve decided to think inside the box for a while. I mean, we just admitted we want to see “Clone Wars,” we think we should let you know where we stand as a Star Wars geeks, right? There’s really not much more damage George Lucas can inflict on his universe, after all. And animation is cost effective, a no lose medium. and there’s a ninety nine percent chance voice actors could do a better job than Hayden Christensen. Hell, a log can.

Whether we like it or not “The Clone Wars” is coming, not to mention the animated series, so we figured we’d just list our top ten Star Wars characters and have some fun with this impending release.

Our Top 10 Cinematic Heroes

Last year, AFI posted their acclaimed list “The Greatest Cinematic Heroes and Villains.” Taking great umbrage with their many choices, I decided to sit down and think about it. Who were my Ten Cinematic Heroes? Who were ten people I’d strive to be, or would want to be in a perilous situation? I’m one of those weirdos who really always side with the heroes. Whether it’s an epic science fiction film, or swords and dragon fantasy film, the heroes have always appealed to me. Comics, Video Games, Cartoons, it’s always about the good guys overcoming an obstacle and or villain who wants to take over the world, or just plain ruin their life.

A hero isn’t always made, a hero is often a figure of circumstance, an individual who blossoms from a horrible situation, or someone who just decides they have to do the right thing against everyone else’s frustration. A hero is one who is willing to lay it down and sacrifice just to help someone they love, or possibly someone they’ve never met. They rarely ever get a pat on the back, or a reward, nor is their decision always justified, but they do what’s right, and that’s enough. These are my top 10 Cinematic heroes.

Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed

Star Wars. There’s really nothing I can say here that you probably haven’t already heard in a thousand other sites. And I can bet that those other folks have said it better and more poetically. Everything has been said about “Star Wars” by thousands of people all over the world.

But the real question I asked was, can “The Legacy Revealed” give us something new about Star Wars? Perhaps they’d divulge an unknown tidbit, or perhaps they’d share some insight that others haven’t caught yet? It’s possible. But also it’s pretty much impossible these days. Many documentaries just tread over the same old territory. “Star Wars: The Legacy” doesn’t really tell us anything new or groundbreaking.

Star Wars, Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith (2005)

I am a hardcore “Star Wars” fan, I love the lore, the amazing mythology and It’s taken hours before I could summon the emotions I took from this last installment in the “Star Wars” franchise and somehow manifest it in to words, and surely this last “Star Wars” movie was an emotional experience for me. When I stepped in to the theaters and watched the theme blast from the speakers I felt a swell of emotion build up in my chest–maybe it was gas, who knows?–but regardless, this was quite possibly the biggest experience I’ve had in theaters in years. I liked the “Star Wars” prequels, I thought they were okay, but they still just did not add up to the original trilogy and Lucas did a poor job of displaying Anakin Skywalker’s descent in to the dark side.

Directors Ruining Hollywood

As a movie lover and one time wannabe filmmaker, I’m a picky person, and as a person who appreciates the fine are of filmmaking or what was once known as filmmaking, it’s very hard to find a good director these days in this cultural wasteland and utterly creatively challenged industry, but among the rare good visionary directors, there are plenty of bad directors whom are basically ruining the art of filmmaking under their siege. Here are a list of directors that are tarnishing filmmaking.

With this article, I ask to them, stop. Stop what you’re doing and go away.

Star Wars Episode Two: Attack of the Clones (2002)

Jedi’s, and Sith’s, and Clones, oh my! In this chapter, we meet Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) and his young apprentice Anakin (Hayden Christensen) once again on a mission. There is a conspiracy in the republic; Someone is trying to kill the now Senator Amidala. They suspect a traitor within the force and they do not know who it is. Now, the republic assigns Obi-Wan and his defiant padawan Anakin to investigate. Unfortunately, Anakin and Amidala are falling in love, something that is strictly forbidden in the Jedi order. Ewan McGregor once again gives great merit to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi by showing great humility in his role and giving Obi-Wan a warrior-esque look. Natalie Portman returns to the role of Amidala or Padme with more life to her role. Where as “Episode one” lacked life and structure, this one improves on it supremely.
