One of the interesting aspects of this Star Wars and Serenity one shot is that writer Zach Whedon takes the time out not only to tell interesting stories in a little under fifteen pages, but he draws parallels between the Firefly and Star Wars universe that’s tough to ignore. Deep down Han Solo and Malcolm Reynolds are cut from the same cloth. They’re both street smart pirates, they both love what they do, they both can handle themselves in combat, and they both have creaky old ships that they’d rather die in before giving up. In “The Art of the Bad Deal,” Han and Chewie land on a distant planet where they’re having trouble trading with a particular alien species.

Demons 3: Books One and Two [Digital]
I really like how these extra additions to these rare limited edition re-releases of the horror classics known as “Dremons” are really intended to connect the mythology. And yes, even in “Demons” a movie without rhyme or reason for being one of the most chaotic horror films ever made, there’s room for a good writer to create a mythology. Set in the world of “Demons 3,” writers Stefan Hutchinson and Barry Keating tell a compelling story in two graphic novels about the rise of Michel and Christopher. Along the way a man named Nostradame is plagued with endless horrible visions of the apocalypse, blood and guts, and endless turmoil caused by the rise of demonic entities that will destroy all of society and civilization.
Top Ten Super Teams We'd Kill to be Apart Of
It’s all come to this, people! Come May 4th Marvel Entertainment will put together the ultimate in team movies, when action heroes from all of Marvel’s latest movies come together to take on the evil Loki and his army to defend Earth and Avenge humanity. Hopes are high for the big screen debut of comic books’ most popular super team, and we’re expecting one hell of a fun cinematic ride. On the road to the Avengers film, we got to thinking about our favorite super teams, and we compiled a list of ten super teams we’d kill to be apart of, if we were ever alive in their realities. This is of course a list for the fan boys, but these are ten super teams and organizations from comics, TV, and pop culture that we’d love to sign up for. Not all of the best superhero movies are inspired by comics and as such since the revival of the comic book movie, the superhero film has taken on a sub-genre of its own. There are plenty of films out there based on anime, manga, and comic books, but sometimes directors and studios pick up original properties that take on a life of their own as potential comic book bait. From the animated to the cult, these are the best superhero movies not based on comic books.
A Love Letter to "The Walking Dead"
WARNING: We spoil everything about the comic book series so if you’ve yet to catch up with the horror comic book, display caution. Plus, the comic book may reflect storylines from the television series so, again, display caution.
Back when “The Walking Dead” began running at local comic shops across America, I just wasn’t a comic book reader. I’d spent most of my young years being an absolute hardcore comic book geek and making it my mission to catch the latest issue of Superman and keep up with the most recent multi-issue arcs, and for a long time I swore I wouldn’t stop reading comic books. To this day I still have my crate with my personal collection of Superman, Avengers, and X-Men comics tucked away somewhere in plastics with back boards.
But somewhere along the line I pretty much lost my track and moved on to something else. Frankly I moved on to collecting movies and they became replacements for comics, but mostly it was because of the dwindling outlets for purchasing comics that did me in. Once you could go in to a pharmacy to buy some comic books, maybe a grocery store, and often times the news stands were packed to the brim with amazing comic books being handled by an Asian or Mexican man who had no idea what the hell Spawn was, but was more than happy to stock them.

Dear Dwayne McDuffie,
Ever since hearing about your death, I can’t help but think what a huge loss the comic book and pop culture world has suffered. No really, I think it’s no understatement that the news of your death is leaving a giant hole in the comic book world, and since the announcement of your death my mind has shifted from “Oh that’s pretty sad… wait… man that sucks… wait… wow, that’s shitty… oh god… we’re fucked.” Because let’s face it when was the last time we had someone like Dwayne McDuffie say “Hey! Wouldn’t it be cool if minorities weren’t cliches and stereotypes?” And yes, wouldn’t it be amazing if our minority heroes weren’t secondary sidekicks or poorly promoted rehashes of the same old formula we’ve seen day in and day out?
Wizard Magazine: A Bittersweet Goodbye
