Bring it On: Cheer or Die (2022)

There’s a horror sequel to “Bring it On.” Repeat: There is a horror sequel (part seven!) to “Bring it On.” The cheerleading sports teen comedy that birthed a series of cheerleading sports teen comedies actually has a sequel that is a full on horror movie. That’s kind of like a sequel to “Mission Impossible” that’s a full on slasher film or something. It’s kind of amazing. It’s too bad “Cheer or Die” just isn’t.

Hellraiser: Judgment (2018)

Allegedly Gary J. Tunnicliffe originally drew up a script for a “Hellraiser” movie which he then retooled in to an indie horror film after it was rejected. Later his concept was reworked in to a “Hellraiser” movie as a means of keeping the series in motion. Without the bits about the Cenobites, “Judgment” feels like a cheap “Seven” knock off about a serial killer that weaponizes the ten commandments instead of the seven deadly sins. It feels like a movie that was made in 2002 with choppy editing and murky directing that made it feel like a music video for Evanescence or System of a Down.

Ranking “The Exorcist” Series from Best to Worst

It’s been fifty years since the release of the late, great William Friedkin’s horror masterpiece “The Exorcist” and we’re getting two really big, and anticipated sequels that follow after the original film. “Believer” is setting high expectations and has a high bar to hit. “The Exorcist” has yet to be topped by its follow ups, or its bevy of imitators. Here’s my list of films from “The Exorcist” series from Best to Worst. Fingers crossed “Believer” ends up wowing fans and audiences alike.

Ranking the Ghostface Killers from Favorite to Least

The first rule of Ghostface in “Scream,” is that it’s always someone you know. No matter what’s happening to the main characters, the killer or killers are always someone within close vicinity that have a personal connection with you. To date there have been multiple people that have taken up the mantle of Ghostface, especially since the “Scream” movie series is six movies in, and on the way to the seventh. So now that “Scream 6” made a big hit at theaters in 2023, I thought I’d break down the Ghost Face killers from favorite from least favorite.

The list does exclude the killers from the MTV “Scream” series, of course, as I’m sticking mainly to the movie series continuity.

Feel free to let me know what your ranking would be in the comments.

Night Of The Demons 2: Collector’s Edition (1994) [Blu-Ray]

I originally saw Brian Trenchard-Smith’s “Night of the Demons 2” before ever seeing Kevin Tenney’s original 1988 classic. It was a late night viewing on Cinemax that still remains burned in to my brain. Brian Trenchard-Smith fills in with Kevin Tenney offering up a sequel that’s just as good as the original “Night of the Demons.” Hell, I wouldn’t argue if you even insisted the sequel is better.

Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)

“Hocus Pocus” has managed to become a huge cult classic since its initially slept on release in 1993. When you release a Halloween movie in the middle of the summer, you kind of expect the movie to flop. But years since its release, movie fans alike have caught on allowing it become an absolute classic. And I for one love “Hocus Pocus.” I loved it since I first saw it on VHS back in 1994. “Hocus Pocus 2” seemed like a far fetched idea until 2022 when there seemed to be potential for a follow up. With “Hocus Pocus 2” you kind of have to meet it halfway. It’s a follow up but it’s different than the original movie. That doesn’t make it bad, it just makes it a different movie and experience altogether.

Five More Promised Sequels That Never Happened

End of the movie stingers can be a double edged sword. They can be the promise of huge, great things to come. But often times if and when we never get a sequel or promised follow up, we’re always left hanging and begging studios for some kind of resolution or extension of a story. Nine times out of ten, the studios don’t oblige movie fans. These days studios are getting bolder, offering end of movie, mid-credit, and or post credit scenes, many of which promise new developments for sequels or spin offs. Sometimes they’re great and sometimes… they amount to nothing.

Here are five more movies that promised us sequels, but never delivered.
