“VHS Massacre” was one of many looks back at the golden age of VHS and how physical media is dying in the age of streaming. Thomas Edward Seymour produced a very good and insightful glimpse at a time where the death of physical media seemed imminent. So it feels only logical that he’d follow it up with a further look in to the death of physical media. The problem though is that “VHS Massacre Too” is a less focused and somewhat confused successor that never quite knows what it’s trying to tell its audience.

Scream VI (2023)
Wes Craven’s “Scream” series has always been first a slasher series, and second a movie series that comments on the horror fandom. Thankfully while Craven’s loss is still sorely felt in the overall franchise, “Scream VI” has kept much of the spirit alive. The next logical step in the franchise is pulling it out of Woodsboro and giving it a wider scope, and it does this by changing the backdrop to the big city of New York. While this would otherwise hinder the series’ development, the massive scale of New York gives “Scream” something of an automatic reset that I welcome.
My Five Favorite Keanu Reeves Action Films
March 24th, fans of the “John Wick” movie series will be treated to the fourth installment of the titular character’s journey to escape his roots as a covert assassin. After the events of “Chapter 3,” Wick finds himself again under fire from a global group of killers. Reeves is an actor who is no stranger to action cinema, and along his very seasoned career spanning the 80’s and in to the aughts, he’s accumulated an impressive filmography. Among them: action films. These are five of what I consider to be his best action films, to date.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Director Peyton Reed’s style and sensibility really matches up well with the third “Ant-Man” movie series, a franchise that’s been a lot about an underdog hero. In a world where he’s even second to Spider-Man, a fellow under dog superhero, it’s interesting to see how “Quantumania” depicts the idea of family and how dads can be all the heroes we need when all is said and done. Deep down, “Quantumania” is a movie about family, about the unconventional family unit and how it works in a world that they’re woefully unprepared for.
Get In the Spirit for “Scream VI” with these Great NY Based Horror Films
Super Bowl Sunday saw the release of the newest trailer for the up and coming, highly anticipated sequel to the “Scream” series titled “Scream VI.” This new sequel takes the story out of Woodsboro and in to the streets of New York City. We follow sisters Tara and Sam Carpenter once again as they’re stalked by a meaner, more sadistic Ghost Face. In celebration of the New York bound sequel, I thought I’d list five great New York based horror films you can watch to prepare yourself for the highly anticipated sequel.
What are some of your favorite New York set horror films?
V/H/S/ 99 (2022)
The newest installment of the “V/H/S/” series was a welcome treat for me back in 2022, as I have always been a fan of the film series. With the popularity of lo-fi analog horror, “V/H/S/” can still have some good shelf life, and spin some damn good horror segments down the line. “V/H/S/ 99” sadly stumbles here and there in what is probably the weakest entry of the movie series to date. The great segments outweigh the weaker entries, but that’s not saying too much when even the better segments aren’t really as spectacular as something like “Safe Haven” from “V/H/S/ 2.” Even the framing device for the segments never quite comes full circle, in the end.
You Have to See This! Wyrmwood: Apocalypse (2021)

I for one got a huge kick out of Kiah Roache-Turner’s “Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead,” because while it was a huge departure from what I usually like in my zombie movies, he compensated with huge creativity and a great series of performances. In particular Bianca Bradey was a scene stealer as the zombie human hybrid Brooke. In “Apocalypse,” Kiah Roache-Turner and Tristan Roache-Turner shift the focus ever so slightly to a new series of characters. Sure they keep the integrity and novelty of “Road of the Dead” in tact, but this time we’re given a wider scope with a new series of villains and some bad ass zombie hybrids.
